Life at Pathshala Hostel is governed by dots and stars. On the surface it seems like a game but essentially it is rewarding virtues like good behavior, sensitivity, helping others, being kind, going above and beyond, taking initiative etc. over putting one’s own needs and wants before everything else. Like everything, practice makes perfect and when you spend every waking hour trying to earn a star for your house, essentially it is conditioning the children to think differently. When life poses a choice in the future, we are confident they will take the right decision.
In July 2022, we also initiated Gaam Pathshala, a community outreach program in which Pathshala children go to Lasundra village and hold classes for the children there. They have no exposure to any school system or education. The idea is to again create a bridge so that one day they can be brought into mainstream education.
